NIENEO is a silly combination of our last names that we named our household when we moved in together 9 years ago.

We named this site The Nieneo Project so that it can continue to be a site we utilize to share what's happening in our lives together.  It starts with our WEDDING - our biggest project collaboration yet.

*Note that we are not changing our names to NIENEO, so we don't need those embroidered bath towels ;)

Our goal with this site right now is to provide you with useful information to make your trip to NYC as easy as possible.  We are so excited and grateful that so many of you are willing to travel to share in this special celebration with us!  For those of you making a weekend trip out of it, we'll also have local activities planned on Saturday and Sunday for you to join in on, if you wish.

Thanks for visiting this site and we can't wait to celebrate with you!

IT BEGAN 14.5 YEARS AGO ...

... at a bar in the West Village - yup, a bar!  November 30, 1999, Jen was visiting friends in the city that week and was in between getting back from a solo backpacking trip around Europe and having reconstructive knee surgery in CT.  Nancy had been living in Brooklyn for 3 years and was working long hours at STUDIOS architecture, a firm that she started working for out of grad school.  We hit it off immediately, but did not exchange contact information that night.  Through friends of friends, we managed to reconnect not long after.

Jen moved to the city in the summer of 2000 and the first couple of years we had a "long distance" relationship between Queens and Brooklyn.  Jen moved into a little studio in Nancys building in Park Slope Brooklyn for a couple more years (that was a fun set-up!) and then 9 years ago we decided to trade in our tiny studios for one larger apartment.  We've had many adventures, pitfalls and celebrations that have helped us grow stronger, individually and together.  After almost 15 years, we are excited to bring our friends and family together to celebrate the amazing people in our lives and to express our love for each other.

... so yes, it's a long story... and it's been a wonderful ride!

And here's a wonderful article about our crazy journey, once we decided to get married, written by Nikita Richardson for the Gothamist //
